We're still here!

Hi all! We have been a busy bunch, but haven't been able to share the way I'd like. My laptop, where I stored all our photos and did my stuff, had a part go out on it - hard drive is intact, but with labor, it's a several hundred dollar repair, one we just haven't committed to doing. This causes some down sides in our home - we're down to one computer for four people who all use it, this one computer is much older - and slower - than the laptop, and I have hundreds of photos on my camera that have nowhere to go!

It's been a crazy first few months of school here.

Eli had his first season of outdoor soccer, which he loved. He lucked out and had no rainy, muddy games. He's now playing basketball, and is having a good time with that too. He's doing great at school, too!

Hannah is all about volleyball and friends. She recently completed a successful season of fall volleyball, and will soon be getting back to practice for winter club ball. She loves it, and it's so fun to watch her teams play! She's quite the social butterfly, too. She is also doing great in school.

Kevin is in his first year as an associate principal at the high school. This new role has been quite a challenge, and he's working really hard with his team to continually improve things there. My Duck fan of a husband has atended nearly every Beaver game - thanks to his brother or our friend. We did get to go on a Duck date to an Oregon game, and had so much fun! Also, he's back to college and high school officiating.

I am busy with volunteering in Eli's class, his school's parent-teacher club, a bit with church, and doing occasional work in the school district. I am also in charge of all the non-glamorous mom duties - so between us all, we are on the go alot!

So...that was our quick update - photo-less, I'm sorry to say! Maybe Santa will leave me a computer in my stocking?? Maybe I should make a bigger stocking, just in case! :)

Wanna win??

Hey all! I've never done this before, but I want to introduce you to a friend of mine, via her blog http://gravityofmotion.blogspot.com. She is a friend of mine from our church, and she and her family are amazing! She has a great outlook on her life and faith, and her insights often give me food for thought. She's running a great contest to celebrate her 100th Thursday Thanks Tank! Check it out, and maybe you'll win a fun prize! And maybe you'll be a follower of her blog, too!

Summer tidbit

We had unexpectedly had family visit for the afternoon yesterday. My sister-in-law and neice came down to mooch off our A/C in our 108 degree day - theirs had gone out the night before, and were looking for relief and some family time in one fell swoop, and we were happy to have them!

My sis-in-law likes to cook, unlike me, and so I was getting dinner suggestions from her. She went on to share a story. She had put my neice's dinner plate in front of her one night - a meal she normally eats and loves - and neice announces that she is NOT going to eat THAT. So mom explains to her how some kids don't get dinner and have go to bed hungry. Mom then tries to turn it into a teachable moment (or game in neice's brain) and asks if she wanted to see what it's like to go to bed hungry. Neice gets excited about the game and says, "sure, right after dinner!!"

One last year of pre-teen-ness!

Hannah turns 12 today! Technically, not til 2:20 pm, but close enough. She's not here - she's away at camp. This is the 3rd year she's gone to camp, and the 3rd year she's been there on her birthday. The first year she was bummed about that, but now she looks forward to it - I think it's because she gets to spread out her birthday festivities over the course of nearly 2 weeks!

Anyway, I suggested to Eli that he draw Hannah a birthday card or picture today to give to her tomorrow. His suggestion: I can give her a picture of the policeman I just drew - I don't like it that much anyway!

I know he loves her and misses her! And I still have time to convince him to draw a flower or a shopping bag or a volleyball or ... ANYTHING else!

Spring Break Sledding!

Decided to go to Tombstone to go sledding. We try to get there at least once a year - can't believe today was the first and probably last time this winter we went! Anyways, we were shocked to find not one single soul besides us was there! We had to blaze our own trails - and with about a foot of new snow to deal with, it wasn't easy! It rained on the drive up right up to the parking lot, then it snowed the whole time during sledding! Perfect!
